morning looks like. >> am i right david is if. >> reporter: yes you are matt. we're looking at satellite. we have breaks in the clouds, but we have clouds to the west and more clouds coming in from the south. as the day goes on, the clouds will get thicker ahead of the arrival of precipitation tonight. 23 in wilmington, 29 in allentown. it's a cold start. looks like it stays in the upper 20s between # -- 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. we'll get up to 40 this afternoon. it's a good afternoon to get things done ahead of the evening arrival of precipitation, but we do have that massive precipitation to the south and west. it is expected to arrive during the evening hours and continue into a good portion of saturday. there's a winter weather advisory that starts later

tonight and into saturday. we'll see snow mixing with sleet. i think the start time in philadelphia is probably around 9:00 p.m. tonight a little bit before that down south in wilmington and dover and later than that, perhaps 10:00 p.m. in allentown. this whole thing will have a tendency to change over to rain in the overnight hours and tomorrow morning. we'll see improvement. poor travel later in the overnight hours and perhaps early tomorrow morning, as well. when i step inside we'll have future tracker 6 and show you the progression of this and when it gets out of here. >> reporter: every morning we've been saying it's dry the roads are dry and you have to watch for icy spots. that's the case today. we're seeing a number of accidents including an overturned vehicle on the schuylkill expressway. this is schuylkill eastbound at gulph mills we have the right lane completely blocked. they are temporarily blocking all lanes. this is the on-ramp at the schuylkill eastbound. looks like they are trying to flip the car and pull it out at this point.

we have penn e -- dot on the scene. we have a single-vehicle accident. we have traffic slowing coming east of king of prussia. as we look at the wider picture we have icy conditions at east 12th street. there's a water main break that's causing the problem there. ridge pike at north rain they have an accident that brought down the traffic light. fire police on hand. chester county route hundred in upper quinn nid -- qwen i had at at -- sum knee sit down pike. two people went up in flames in a philadelphia neighborhood overnight because of this proximity investigators are calling them suspicious. katherine scott is live along the 6300 block of dittman street

in tacony. >> reporter: matt, there were no injuries in all this, but the two fires were right around the corner from each other so officials are calling them suspicious. we're standing in the back alley of the home on dittman. the suffer is in bad shape. the windows are blown out it's charred. we did see an arson dog sniffing the scene earlier for accelerants around here. we don't know if anything turned up. the first of the fires were called in at 2:00 a.m. at robins and torresdale around the corner from here. the fire was put out but not before it could do a lot of damage to the car. the car is charred. the windows blew out it's a mess. not long after that fire was reported another car came in. let's doe go to that video. it was another car fire this one on the 6 # hundred block of dittman in the back alley of the

driveway of the home. the fire spread from the suv that was parked in the driveway up to the home. there were families inside. everybody got out safely, but there was damage to the vehicle which was gutted. there was a minivan parked in the driveway next-door with slight melting in the front. the major damage is to this suv. obviously a lot of questions here, the authorities are trying to find the answers to. irrelevant remains under investigation, there is no word if there are any surveillance cameras nearby that could help in the investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> it's now 66:05. a former philadelphia homicide detective has posted bail he hid his girlfriend for weeks in a hotel in upstate new york. colleagues were a searching for sanchez for the murder of her

philadelphia and 10:00 p.m. we have a band of snow moving up even as early as 11:00 we may see rain to the south and sleet here as this warm air pushes up. as we go into the overnight hours, while most of you are asleep # 30:00 a.m., we'll be -- 3:30 a.m. we'll be changing over to rain in philadelphia. it starts out as snow and warm air comes in. # 30:00 saturday morning -- 7:30 saturday morning the roads might be slushy, but the snow gets washed away a little bit. in allentown there's a chance of it changing back to snow and sleet. it gets out of here as rain as 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. models differ on how much well get. i think the 4.2 is a little high. 1 to 3-inch snowfall accumulation most of it will be

>> welcome back you're taking a live look down the shore into atlantic city. 6:15 30 degrees, nice and clear now, but snow in the offing for the this evening. >> it's slick in spots but it's hard to figure out where. >> reporter: you look at the roads, many of us drove to work with no problem at all. the trouble you get one little area of black ice with temperatures below freezing that's when you get slipping. the latest accident is at schuylkill eastbound at gulph mills. it was at the end of the on ramble on to the schuylkill blocking lanes last time i showed you that scene. it's slow from past 202 to gulph mills. i would use caution on the ramps and overpasses. let's look at the other problems

in the area. here's the accident at that cleared. we have icy conditions reported at east 12th avenue and ryder street. ridge pike we have an accident that took down the traffic lights. police are on hand to direct you around that. upper gwynedd we have an accident at sumneytown pike. we had an accident on kelly drive that cleared, as well. on the commuter traffic report most people out here talking about the potholes that seems to be the big story this time of the year. the member of our 6abc team pothole in reading on north 13th street. waze is a good way to see all the communities you can go there and find out what's happening in that neighborhood. thanks for sharing that. storm tracker 6 live showing we're dry in our area. there's the moisture down to the south that will be moving up the coastline. that will anticipate snowfall for us later on tonight.

for now we're dry but the trouble these temperatures are well below freezing if you have any moisture out there that's where you have the black ice. >> new from the lehigh valley violence unfolds in a barber shop in center city allentown. one man is dead. a man in his 30s was stabbed to death inside washington barber shop along hamilton street yesterday afternoon. officials have not revealed his identity. police are talking to people who witnessed the murder. >> and this is developing this morning police fatally shot a woman who walked into a texas police station asked for help and pulled out a knife. longview police say the woman made threatening move toward officers in the lobby yesterday evening. the woman was pronounced at the local hospital. no officers were hurt. twitter which might be

>> welcome back we're watching some breaking news coming from homestead, allegheny county 7 miles southeast of downtown pittsburgh. fire crews are on the scene this is an apartment complex this is east 8th avenue or route 37. they were called out a couple of hours ago. this fire burning hot. it's up to five-alarms. they have rescued two people the four apartment buildings and one building has collapsed. you can see the number of crews on the scene with water trained there trying to get everybody out of there that they can and

before dipping back to 38 by # p.m. we have an odd out of season air quality the air has been stagnant without the wind. it will stay that way today. there's a concern for those of you with asthma or respiratory ailments the particle pollution could affect you. there's a winter weather advisory in effect it kicks in during the evening hours from south to north an doesn't expire until saturday morning it's during that period we have snow and sleet mixing in. i'll have more on when it arrives and change and depart on future tracker 6 coming up, karen. >> reporter: the accident involving the overturned vehicle cleared traffic is moving fine at gulph mills, this was on the on-ranch and blocking lanes -- on-ramp, and blocking lanes. traffic is moving better.

we have icy conditions because of water main break east 12th avenue at ryder street. watch for that. ridge pike this accident took down a traffic light police are directing at the scene ridge pike at north lane. sumneytown pike south broad street upper gwynedd. a disabled vehicle on the boulevard southbound near adams avenue. you need to be careful as you head out. a vehicle fire in burlington county, new jersey, new jersey turnpike, southbound at exit 5. i know we had problems not far from this area on the new jersey turnpike yesterday a horrible accident now a vehicle fire causing a problem on the turnpike. >> we want to take you back to breaking news. we're watching this out of homestead, pennsylvania, allegheny county an apartment fire going on there. it broke out two hours ago.

look at how it is blazing. this is five apartment buildings on fire, according to our sister station wtae, two buildings have collapsed. firefighters have been able to rescue two people and they are busy making sure there are no other people in there. this is the 200 block of east 8th avenue. they are on top of of an absolute inferno in homestead pennsylvania. arson investigators are looking into two suspicious car fires within a one-block raid us. let's -- radius, let's go over to katherine scott live in tacony with the breaking details. good morning katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam that's right these fires are right around the corner from each other. nobody was injured in all of this. we're standing behind one of the

fires in a back alley on dittman. the charred shell of the car is behind the house. there's a minivan in the driveway that has slight melting on it. the main damage was to the suv. the first of the fire was called in at 2:00 a.m. at robins and torresdale around the corner. the owner of the car doesn't live there but happened to be parked there overnight. the fire was put out the windows were blown out. there's a lot of damage. not long after that, a second call came in, let's go to that video next. a car fire on the 6 # -- 6300 block of dittman. that fire spread from the car up to the home. everybody got out safely. there's minor damage to the house and the vehicle is gutted. we did see an arson dog on the scene earlier sniffing for accelerants.

if there are any motives or anyone was specifically targeted, it remains under investigation. there's no word if there's surveillance video in the area that could help in the investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> now to a developing story several vehicles struck and killed a man walking on a delaware highway and none of the drivers stopped. this happened after # along the northbound lanes of 495 in edgemore, new castle county. the investigation shut down the lanes for hours. state police have not identified the victim who was killed or why he was walking on the highway. it's been slippy out there and police are looking into whether black ice caused this crash in atlantic county new jersey the action cam was along route 9 on amy lane in absecon. the driver was taken to the hospital for a number of injuries no word on his condition. this is new on "action news," a body was pulled out of the ice cold schuylkill river.

crews converged on kelly drive last night where they found the body of an african-american man. there's no word how long he was in the water or how he died. >> a bucks county mansion is at the center of a fraud investigation. >> the blaze hit the same home in buckingham township now several people have been charged. aig paid out $20 million in the fire, the couple was seeking another 20 million in dollars in claim and the owner accused volunteer firefighters who responded to one of the blazes of stealing jewelry worth millions. a grand jury believe the accusations are false. >> i feel vindicated we spent the last 14 months under a cloud of suspicious. i have a great dedicated group of guys here. >> authorities say they discovered the family was

high of 40 before dipping back to 34 at 5:00 p.m. tonight we have a nor'easter coming up the coast. very often we'll get an area of high pressure that blocks in cold air and prevent the storm from moving away fast. at this point we don't have the high that will lock in the low. you have a failure warm ocean temperature -- fairly warm ocean temperature that will roll in warm air anyway that will roll in as the low approaches. we'll have a quick change overin the overnight as the warm air floods in. what are we looking for. future tracker 6 is handling very well. 8:00 p.m. we could see rain and sleet in southern chester county. 9:00 9:30 p.m. it will start snowing in philadelphia. by 10:00 p.m. we'll see it in allentown. by 11:00 p.m. it's everywhere.

it's mild down south so it's mainly rain there. look what happens while you're sleeping. 4:00 a.m. the rain line has moved past philadelphia into the northern suburbs by 7:00, 7:30 it might be past allentown. so you're changing over to rain for a while. if you're in the far northern and western suburbs, there's a change back to snow. the whole thing wraps over by the coast as mainly resign rain during the afternoon hours. the most intense rain will be early in the event. what are we expecting on the ground? well it's going to depend on where you are. it doesn't look like a debilitating snow. look for rain and sleet. mainly rain at times. it is these areas where you have a slick road conditions extending into part of saturday. in the central region it starts to snow a period of sleet by

>> 6:44, good morning, everyone, we're starting out dry on this friday morning, let's take a live look at the ben franklin bridge. later on today, some of us will begin seeing snow from the nor'easter. >> nothing like that out there right now. we have accidents going on. >> reporter: we've been tweeting out our accidents and delays, the first one was northbound on i-95 at cottman a disabled vehicle blocking the right lane. the southbound delay is heavy from past academy to cottman and the betsy ross bridge to girard. a slow go on i-95. look at all the things we have going on at this point. the newest accident at king of prussia henderson road at church road. plirch -- plymouth township we have an accident at ridge pike that took down the traffic

light. police are directing at the scene. we have icy conditions because of the a water main break at east 12th and ryder. we had an overturned vehicle at gulph mills. watch out for slick spots a number of accidents a couple of involved overturned vehicles. be careful as you head out. old focialg road -- old forge road a disabled vehicle there. a vehicle fire, if that's not enough going on. this is in burlington county, new jersey right on the new jersey turnpike southbound near exit 5. watch for crews on the scene approaching exit 5 you may see lanes restricted in that area. let's take a look at the temperatures. although it's dry we're below freezing everywhere and well below everywhere. 26 in the city. in the teens like in the suburbs. atlantic city, near there. 25 in millville.

25 in reading. we're seeing areas of black ice just here and there. use caution with the nasty accidents. we're dry in the region until later on tonight. down to the south we see a lot of moisture with a nor'easter heading our way expect snowfall later on tonight. >> this is new on "action news," a paralyzed man said san francisco police try try tried to him out of the wheelchair. he moves toward a group in the hopes of intervening in an argument between the friends and the police. officers tell him to leave, at one point it looms he tries to tip him out of the chair and push him off the curb. police say he was trying to run over his foot. he was cited for obstructing an officer. an arrest and bizarre case that had an entire amish county on edge.

families were on edge for months after hearing a reports of a man getting into homes and fondling young girls while they slept. he has been arrested and held on $50,000 bail. a pair of 9-year-old twins were left in their new hampshire home for months with only ramon noodles to eat and no phone. the uncle was supposed to to -- supposed to look after them. he is facing criminal charges. the parents will not face charges because they they believed the uncle would care for the children. again new here, watch as the guy on the left blows his top at the hockey game, he
